Fabrizio Plessi - Under Water – Installation
“My monumental video installations are always born from
the nature of the space and architecture, and I like to insert my work in there
as if it always belonged to it. When it came to the Fondaco dei Tedeschi, I
thought about its history, its spirit and its philosophy of being a blend of
stories and languages. I imagined an installation that could co-exist with the
architecture made by Rem Koolhaas. Taking inspiration from the golden brass
surfaces I created a mental picture of sixty pieces of a massive golden
Byzantine mosaic underwater. I wanted to achieve a fluid, ever-changing, almost
breathing movement that also gives an abstract feeling of an imaginary
collective.”
