Venice: A Day of Fashion Talks - Iuav University – Tolentini
A day of
fashion talks took place again this year with the title, Is Italy Trendy –
part II - Changing the Rules of the Game, reflections around the
themes that define Italian fashion. Marking the end of the academic year of Fashion/Design, the
talks were a project organized by Universita Iuav di Venezia and
Rivista Studio, curated by Maria Luisa Frisa, fashion historian,
author and director of the degree course in Fashion/Design, Rivista Studio’s Federico Sarica,
Cristiano Seganfreddo, innovator and creative entrepreneur, in collaboration
with Promemoria. Celebrating ninety years of IUAV University of Venice –
1926-2016 – the Fashion at Iuav events also celebrated ten year of the Fashion/Design course with the publication of the book Desire and Discipline –
Designing Fashion at Iuav – 2005-2015, edited by Maria Luisa Frisa with Saul
Marcadent and Gabriele Monti and published by Marsilio 2016.

The entrance to Iuav University – Tolentini campus, it was designed
in the 1980s by Carlo Scarpa behind which is the sixteenth century ex-convent of the Tolentini Church
designed by Vincenzo Scamozzi, the complex is the seat of rector’s office, the Faculty of
Architecture and a Central Library, and the venue for the days events.
