Christopher Specce is one of the twelve designers featured on the Shaker Furniture booth. The designers were invited to produce designs that translate the ingenuity and aesthetics of Shaker objects into modern forms relevant to contemporary life.

“I’m drawn to the devotional craft the Shakers invested in the things they made and their ritualization of the tasks of daily life. I’ve tried to create a similar, albeit somewhat absurd elevation of the mundane, juxtaposing those spiritual aspirations with the kind of souvenir interpretation that exists in a gift-shop’s-view of this rich and idiosyncratic culture.”

WW3 x Liz Collins

WW3 (Warp Weft 3) is a new textile project by Liz Collins, Jeffrey Walkowiak and Michael Sharkey producing hand-woven floor coverings and architectural screens. These pieces are created using the rudimentary weaving technique of potholders on a large-scale loom with knit (T-shirt) fabric yardage. The rugs’ bulky, comfortable quality is fitting for a variety of spaces and doubles as seating.
