Venice: Film Festival - The Awards

Venice: Film Festival  - The Awards. The Venezia 69 Jury, chaired by Michael Mann and comprised of Marina Abramovic, Laetitia Casta, Peter Ho-Sun Chan, Ari Folman, Matteo Garrone, Ursula Meier, Samantha Morton, and Pablo Trapero having viewed all eighteen films in competition, decided the following awards.

GOLDEN LION - Best Film: PIETA by Kim Ki-duk (South Korea).

 

SILVER LION - Best Director: THE MASTER by Paul Thomas Anderson (US). Collected by Philip Seymour Hoffman (above).

 
COPPA VOLPI - Best Actress: Hadas Yaron in the film LEMALE ET HA’CHALAL by Rama Bursthein (Israel).

 
COPPA VOLPI - Best Actor: Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix in the film THE MASTER by Paul Thomas Anderson (US). Collected by Philip Seymour Hoffman who said “Please don’t regard my appearance, I just got off a plane and changed in a toilet and I can hardly keep my eyes open.”

 

MARCELLO MASTROIANNI AWARD - Best New Young Actor or Actress: Fabrizio Falco in the films: BELLA ADDORMENTATA by Marco Bellocchio (Italy) and È STATO IL FIGLIO by Daniele Ciprí (Italy).

Other Awards went to:
SPECIAL JURY PRIZE – PARADIES : GLAUBE: by Ulrich Seidl (Austria, Germany, France).
 AWARD FOR BEST SCREENPLAY – APRES MAI: by Olivier Assaya  (France).
AWARD FOR THE BEST TECHNICAL CONTRIBUTION (CINEMATOGRAPHY) – E STATO IL FIGLIO: Daniele Ciprì (Italy).
GOLDEN LION FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT 2012:  Francesco Rosi.
