NYC. Assouline.  This treasure of a luxury bookshop boutique is hidden on the mezzanine overlooking the lobby of the newly refurbished Plaza Hotel. Assouline is more than a publisher, it’s a lifestyle brand, reads their motto. The publishers are known for their selection of beautiful stylish picture books that cover subjects, like; fashion, travel, culture, lifestyle, food, interiors and the Arts.

Assouline.  The small boutique stocks all the Assouline titles as well as special elegant selected gifts. Founded by Prosper and Martine Assouline the publishers “…seek to be an engine of culture. We conceive of the company as a platform by which to disseminate the best thoughts and visions of the greatest creative minds, and our collaborators include the world’s foremost artists, photographers, writers, architects, fashion and interior designers, and culinary masters…. to develop a custom-tailored solution unique to every project, whether books, furniture, leather goods, candles, gifts, or retail partnerships with other major luxury brands.” The husband and wife team write on their website.


 
Assouline – Vogel bookbinding. A bookbinding service is provided by master artisan bookbinder, Hampton based, Paul Vogel in the Assouline shop. Vogel uses centuries-old techniques and tools to sheathe tomes in luxurious materials and embellish those second skins by hand.



 
Assouline.   Gaia. In the first-ever photography book published by a private space explorer, Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté’s unforgettable photographs capture the colors and textures only visible from 220 miles above the Earth’s surface. This exclusive hand-bound artist's edition features a topographically embossed cover and is presented in a linen clamshell case. Proceeds from the book benefit Laliberté’s One Drop foundation, which aims to eliminate poverty by providing access to clean water.
