MILANO: Women's Fall/Winter 2010/2011 Collections

Gucci.   For Fall Winter, Frida Giannini draws upon Gucci’s golden era of the 1970s and the 1990s to propose a new sense of sleek glamour.  In this new aesthetic discourse, contemporary minimalism and extreme luxury intersect to create a powerful statement that is once rich and refined.

The Silhouette.    Tailoring borrowed from the boyfriend’s closet offers a powerful counterpoint to a resolutely feminine look.   Oversized deconstructed cashmere coats cropped and collarless jackets are paired with soft, printed silk tops and skinny pants with folded waists and metal plate belts.

The details. A continued exploration of the body conscious dress yields new results with anatomical razor cuts that expose sexy slashes of skin. Like the cut on the sleeve of this LBD held together by a metal half cuff.

The Evening Wear. A controlled opulence is created for evening. Python pattern Chantilly lace serves as a fetishistic and transparent tulle upon which dresses are artfully constructed.  Hand-cut vinyl sequins with ombre shading create innovative 3-D patterns and are embroidered with ostrich feathers.  Shrugs of pailettes or feathers, lace stockings and T-strap sandals complete the look.
