Paris: Seen at Maison et Objet – Gaye Cevikel. This glamorous, dynamic Turkish entrepreneur, Gaye Cevikel, single-handedly introduced contemporary design to her native country, fostered the nation’s design market and founded the first Turkish-based innovative luxury design company Gaia&Gino. “I was traveling the whole world, attending design events and fairs and disappointingly not a single Turkish design company was represented. So I decided to create my country’s first global design brand.” she explains.
The 2008 Maison & Objets Awards went to Women this year. They are; Zaha Hadid for best Maison & Objet Designer, Kelly Hoppen for best Scenes d'Interieur Designer, Patricia Urquiola for Now! Design a Vivre Designer and Carolyn Quartermaine for Maison & Objet Editeurs Designer.
