St. James's Palace - The Commanding Officer. Major-General Sebastian Roberts OBE, here in the role of the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel of the Irish Guards was on guard in St. James's Palace. He is flanked, to his right, by his aide-de-camp, Harry Dickinson, ensign of the guard, and on his left, by Major Fabian Roberts, second subaltern of the guard. They stand under a portrait of Queen Victoria who founded the regiment in 1900 to commemorate the bravery of the Irish people who fought in the Boer war. Pin It
