Milano – Art: La Triennale – Forty Years of contemporary Art Massimo Minini 1973-2013

Milano – Art:  La Triennale – Forty Years of contemporary Art Massimo Minini 1973-2013. At La Triennale, until February 2, Forty Years of Contemporary Art. Massimo Minini 1973-2013, a sweeping exhibition to celebrate forty years of Galleria Minini.  The exhibition consists of works that have passed through Galleria Minini in Brescia, offering an authentic cross-section of contemporary art as told by the lead actor, who adopts a personal point of view, at times ironic and desecrating. Amid countless flashbacks, Massimo Minini pieces together, explains and tells the story of the various moments and passages in his characteristic manner, which has found a particular literary form in his Pizzini. These “scraps” have become a successful book with short stories, brilliant ideas and tales about the artists he has met over the years.

Milano: Antonio Marras Men’s F/W 2014/15 Collection

Milano: Antonio Marras Men’s F/W 2014/15 Collection. Antonio Marras Menswear 2014/15 collection was a tribute to his father and entitled, I had a father, I am a father.  “My father, like me, was Sardinian from Alghero, an outpost of Sardinia right in front of Spain.  He used to have a fabric store, fabrics meant for every occasion. I’ve always poked around in my father’s shop, played with combinations of colors and materials, observed attentively the skirts and shawls of those silent and determined women who came to Alghero from the country to buy good clothes for special occasions and for work, stuff that would last for decades, wear-resistant and weatherproof.”

Backstage: Antonio Marras. “In the long and deep workshop, the fabrics were carefully rolled on wooden shelves. For every person there was a fabric, just waiting for the right time to be chosen, to be sewn and take shape and life.” …wool combined with melange jersey, necktie printed micro-canvas wool, canvas micro cashmere print wool, liberty printed poplin…

Milano – Art: Fondazione Mudima – Daniel Spoerri exhibition

Milano – Art:  Fondazione Mudima – Daniel Spoerri exhibition. The Daniel Spoerri exhibition at the Fondazione Mudima, until February 9, is entitled Il Bistrot di Santa Marta, the patron saint of housewives, cooks, hoteliers and restaurateurs. Twenty-one tableaux present assemblies of kitchen utensils, all objects found by the artist at flea markets across Europe, preserved and fixed in ideal collections;  a reference to the act of collecting, to the memory of lived situations,  traditions and customs that define a kind of archaeological reconstruction of our times, relived through the age-old practice and archetypal as the preparation and consumption of food.

Fondazione Mudima: Daniel Spoerri exhibition.  A series of real dinners will also take place during the exhibition in the gallery themed under the supervision of Daniel Spoerri himself. A catalog will later gather the documentation of the banquets and will be published by the Fondazione Mudima.

Milano: Marni Men’s F/W 2014-2015 collection

Milano: Marni Men’s F/W 2014-2015 collection. Marni’s loft showroom was the venue for the Men’s Fall/Winter 2014-2105 presentation.   A video of the collection was shown on giant screens, whilst press and buyers could view the collection up close in a separate room.  The collection which runs from sport to classic, workwear to tailoring, utility to luxury, army to office is taken apart, dissected and re-arranged in a mix that is quintessentially Marni: dry yet soulful, precise with a certain carelessness, graphic. The result is a comprehensive wardrobe that covers the needs and demands of daily life using what is known and familiar in an off-kilter kind of way. Cohesion comes through a loose sense of volume, deceptive textures, fur used as an accent.

Marni Men’s F/W 2014-2015.  The pillars of the masculine repertoire are distilled to their essence in a quest for soft classicism that keeps a slightly subcultural tingle: the tailored suit, slim and crisp, halfway between an urban staple and  a work uniform; the Crombie coat is seen in a textural vein; the trench coat is reduced to a blueprint; the bomber and the parka are occasionally morphed into one.
