Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013: Gianluca Ferracin @ Hotel Continental

Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013:  Gianluca Ferracin @ Hotel Continental. Gianluca Ferracin’s Das Gewand der Macht is an imaginary universe inspired by uniforms of Franz Joseph I von Osterreich, starting from paintings that depict, him. Studying the shapes, colors and materials used during the Habsburg Empire with imaginary references to Luchino Visconti’s Senso, Sissi by Ernst Marischka and Robert Wise’s The Sound of Music, the result are eight jackets and padded pants, characterized by the colors, inside and outside, of the jackets, with closures designed to allude to medals.

Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013:  Alice Di Illio @ Basilico 13.  Alice Di Ilio’s Porrajmos project is an investigation to translate the past of the Romani/Gypsy communities in visual language. From its origins, to the extermination during the Nazi era, until the redemption of the human being. From innocent victims to sacred icons.  From  the bottom, which indicates both terrible and salvation, to then emerge and come to light: a redemption that is offered as a image of life, capable of challenging the illnesses and the unknown innermost of contemporariness.

Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013:  Nemanja Popadic @ Spazio Paraggi. Nemanja Popadic’s There is No True Forgiveness collection is a project that arose from the need to bring in the next level of understanding of the stream of consciousness. An imaginary journey where the mind is stretched between two ideas and where two realities coexist, trying to find a meaning. Walking along this road and accepting the loneliness, it crosses into a timeless dimension. The collection becomes an interrupted sequence, a set of self-sufficient garments, which are not predestined to any specific body, even if they incorporate a large number of different bodies.

Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013: Linda Turkovic @ Apres Paris. Linda Turkovic’s Little Man project starts with a thorough search on the men’s clothes. Looking at the details, the lines, the uneven stitching, to arrive at a contemporary interpretation of the garment between masculine tailoring technique and art of the kimono. The fusion of the temporal contrast between new and old comes from the need to escape the speed of today's consumer.

Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013: Alessandro Marinelli @ Mazzoli

Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013: Alessandro Marinelli @ Mazzoli. Alessandro Marinelli’s collection is entitled # # 1 Before Military Christum.  The universe "Militaria", is the starting point of the collection, it was not considered in its primary meaning, which is seen as a relic, but as the name of a remote land: another dimension in which a new type of soldier (the shooter), convoluted down to a primordial state and has lost his identity as a man, a civilized adult. The result is a series of garments that through tailoring have interpreted the destructiveness of war. Through the application of treatments to the fabrics, compositional details such as sleeves and pockets become the heroes of the silhouette.

Treviso: Modesign – Newcomers 2013: Laura Stefanetto @ Mare Beachwear.  Laura Stefanetto’s collection, entitled Vestura are silhouettes of unique dimension connected with minimum seams: jackets and pants are sized without respect for bodies of different shapes and sizes thanks to adjustable closures. Minimal vocabulary and subtractive grammar construct an aesthetic dialogue around functional and contemporary menswear.
