FASHION: Gianfranco Ferre – Spring Summer 2012
collection. A new image with new
designers, Stefano Citron and Federico Piaggi created a free, sensual and
determined woman for the Gianfranco Ferré Spring/Summer collection. The collection finds inspiration in a principle of utter lightness
that transforms sartorial essence and geometric line into a glam dimension high
in seduction potential. The impact is
absolutely different, modern, and clearly ebullient. It's all about an impeccable
balance between color and material, volume and detail, merging in perfect
unison to define a merely apparent simplicity of design that becomes a new
language of contemporary femininity.

Gianfranco Ferre. Asymmetric cuts,
low necklines and high slits participate in the constant dialogue among different
weights and balances, offering sensual glimpses of skin. Motion exposes
structurally functional metal inserts, that serve also as precious edging on
bustiers and shoulder straps and become jewel chokers or bandeau tops complete
with soft suede or fabric covering.
Gianfranco Ferre:
accessories – belts. The waist and therefore the belt is a strong
feature in the collection. Clean graphic
volumes outline pencil shapes that are often accentuated at the waist with
leather belts or metal bands.
Gianfranco Ferre:
accessories – shoes and bags. The
material mix principle resurfaces in the sophisticated design of accessories.
Blade, the new season’s it-bag, is a briefcase style clutch with detachable
shoulder strap. It comes in soft suede as well as in luxurious lizard,
crocodile, ostrich and galuchat leathers, with gold, silver or burnished metal
hardware (clasp and edging). The platform sandals make a perfect match of
precious leathers and smooth or lamé suede, plus super high stiletto heels in
steel. Lastly, the gold, silver and smoked plate bangle bracelets in sculptural
geo shapes have inserts with a wonderfully exotic texture.
Gianfranco Ferre – the shirt – details. The shirt
follows the path of total deconstruction to extremely sensual one shoulder tops
with all-bare back; or with a double-layer fabric that works to create mannish
mini dresses.
Gianfranco Ferre – hair and make-up #1. The make-up was designed by Lloyd Simmons.
Like the clothes the make-up is pure and structured with metal finishes. “I used pewter and violet shadows and shaped
them with black, added lots of mascara, top and bottom, lip balm in pewter and
a light and fresh foundation.” He explained.
Gianfranco Ferre – hair and make-up #2. The hair was conceived by Parisien Damien
Boissinot. ‘It’s cool and edgy and
graphic like the collection. It’s slick
and back brushed and polished. It’s the sort of hairstyle a woman can do by
herself.” Boissinot said.

Gianfranco Ferre - material mixes. Materials – often in mix form – include double cady where silk threads enhance the texture, duchesse where gold and silver weaves create a metallic mesh effect, leather where aniline and silk protein treatments produce a smooth slippery feel.

lacquer-plume and crystal hand embroidery on sheer tulle, wrapping the figure
so very slinky, revealingly.
