NYC 2013 – Jacob K. Javits Convention Center – ICFF – “public Spaces”

NYC 2013 – Jacob K. Javits Convention Center – ICFF – “public Spaces”.  For a change, after the Salone del Mobile in Milan, at the ICFF, International Contemporary Furniture Fair, I picked a few pieces of design suitable for “public spaces”.
Above:  Like Atlas the primordial Titan who held up the celestial sphere, Tom Dixon holds a model, of his light, Punch XL, which was being manufactured at the fair.

ICFF: “Public Spaces” – Emeco.  The Parrish Side Chair was designed by Konstantin Grcic, 2013, for the Parrish Art Museum in New York.  The modest museum building holds an internal complexity just like the Parrish Collection, subtle design combined with a heartfelt technical core.

ICFF: “Public Spaces” – Anne Kyyro Quinn. Anne Kyyro Quinn designs acoustic wall coverings. Resembling artworks more than conventional fabrics, her sculptural approach has pioneered a new genre of interior textiles based on three-dimensional structure rather than smooth surface ornamentation. The designs are inspired by organic shapes and expressed with Scandinavian simplicity.  The bespoke textile services for residential or contract projects, works with architects, contractors and interior designers to create tailor-made pieces for a wide range of interior settings.

ICFF: “Public Spaces” – Gaia and Gino. Gaia and Gino’s design entrepreneur Gaye Cervikal is photographed with the Fusion Rechargeable Led Table Lamps designed by Noe Duchaufour Lawrance in blown glass with copper, stainless steel and brass.  The lamps are suitable for public spaces like restaurants and museums.

ICFF 2013 – people were talking about – Ikea.   The stand that everybody was talking about was the Ikea stand.  Ikea presented The Stockholm Collection – Smart Craftsmanship, it is beautifully designed has affordable prices and the stand itself was very welcoming.

photograph by manfredi bellati

NYC: Minimal USA’s Outdoor Kitchen Collection party. On the rooftop of Minimal USA’s showroom in Chelsea, a party was held, in partnership with Gaggenau, to present the company’s first Outdoor Kitchen Collection. Before the party, at dusk, the rain stopped and the dramatic skyline, including New York’s iconic Empire State Building, the two steel water tanks on the roof, Minimal’s first outdoor kitchen and the outdoor furniture by Serralunga were cleansed and ready for the event.

Minimal USA’s president and CEO Bartolomeo Bellati was photographed with their  M3 outdoors kitchen made entirely in aluminum and stainless steel.
