Summer Food: Lucchessia - Mescita Lotti Restaurant

Summer Food:  Lucchessia - Mescita Lotti Restaurant. Mescita Lotti restaurant better known, just as Tambellini, has to be one of my favorite restaurants.  I love to eat in the small garden on blue butcher’s paper where the regional cuisine is given a modern touch and looks so pretty on the plates. The owner, Emanuela Tambellini says, “Simple things are the most refined.” and how right she is.
Above. A welcome dish from the cook, a delicious Scarpaccia Viareggina, which is a typical cake from Viareggio, it is  “sweet and sour”, and made with zucchini it was the perfect appetizer.
Mescita Lotti is on the road to Sant'Alessio, near Lucca (+39 0583 342077).

Summer Lifestyle - Lucchesia. In the Tuscan hillsides near Lucca and equally near to the fashionable seaside resort of Forte dei Marmi my old friend and Vicky Ceschi A Santa Croce and Pietro Monticelli have rented a charming farmhouse.  One of five siblings Vicky has always been used to elegant and “effortless” entertaining and to top it all, is also a fabulous cook.  The table was simply laid out in the garden with mats and candles in hurricane lamps, sat on the table whilst tea candles hung in glass stars. The perfect setting for dining al fresco

The Guests. Artist Nicola Lazzeri, the hostess Vicky Ceschi A Santa Croce, journalist, author and blogger Margherita Loy, photographer and artist Manfredi Bellati, horticulturalist, landscape designer and author, Francesca Marzotto Caotorta.

L’Aperitivo.  Drinks where served on the terrace, the Prosecco glasses sit on a bronze Greek coffee tray and Guacamole, as well as other dips, together with Pimms were served before dinner.

Summer: Lucca: San Francesco/IMT.  The impressive restoration of the courtyard of the ex-convent was inaugurated recently next to the Church of San Francesco in  the historic center of Lucca and will be the headquarters of the university campus IMT, Alti Studi di Lucca. IMT is a graduate school dedicated to doctoral and post doctoral education and research, provides five different PhD programs.

Summer: Lucca: San Francesco Church.  There is always food involved. A photo of a fresco of the Sodoma in Monte Oliveto Maggiore was in an exhibition in the Church of San Francesco and represents early sixteenth century Benedictine Monks sitting down to a meal in the refectory.

Treviso: Modesign.  Over three days the city of Treviso was animated by a series of extraordinary events called Modesign; seminars, exhibitions, workshops, fashion shows and talks with distinguished guests from the world of fashion. This was the starting block of the first section of the creative platform, Modesign and was entitled Fashion at IUAV, dedicated to Fashion Design, a project of IUAV University of Venice, which aims to bring together creative enterprises and universities in the Northeast of Italy. The second Modesign event will take place in October and will focus on design.
